Georgetown Youth Baseball joins Cal Ripken League, begins interstate play this weekend

Georgetown Baseball is proud to announce its new affiliation with the nationally-known Babe Ruth Baseball League?s Cal Ripken Division, a national youth baseball organization.

This alliance will provide Georgetown Baseball with more opportunities to play competitive baseball against both local and national teams.

Georgetown?s Summer All-Star teams, ages 9 through 12, will be part of this exciting endeavor and will take advantage of the regional summer tournaments beginning next summer.

However, Georgetown?s All-Star 11-year-old team will be the first to participate in a Cal Ripken Regional Tournament. The first game is to take place Saturday, Aug. 3 in Dover, N.H., against Exeter, N.H., at 12:30 p.m. The game is located at Keays Field at Beckwith Park, located on Hillside Drive in Dover.

It would be great to have the Georgetown community come out and support head coach Scott MacDonald, his coaching staff and this talented group of baseball players.

Baseball president, Sean Meskill, enthusiastically expresses his excitement for this program.

"It may not be Lebron taking his talents to South Beach, but this is a huge step for Georgetown Baseball. It will give our players an opportunity to showcase their talent to teams outside of Essex County," said Meskill. "For a small town, we have amazingly skilled baseball players, and a lot of heart. I am very proud to be part of Georgetown Baseball."
