Maybe it is my age - 59 - but I have noticed sometimes, even when the central heating is on high, that I get really cold when I have been working at my desk or been on the computer for a long period of time. I think i have now found the solution which gives me a quick cardio vascular workout and warms me up almost instantly - the Argos Value Skipping Rope.
Let me explain that I am regarded as slightly crazy and anyone passing by our lounge window (seeing a woman skipping as if her life depended on it) would verify this but, to be honest, I really don't care - it makes me feel good and leaves me feeling more energised even though I can only skip 5 - 10 minutes at a time due to lung problems.
The rope itself is lightweight and has no fancy calorie counters or skip counts which is fine for me as it was so cheap. The rope is woven and has a grey plasticised coating and measures 270 cm (excluding the handles) which is about 8 foot long. I am only 5ft 2" tall and the rope was too long for me but then I realised that by unscrewing the foam handles I could pull the rope through, knot it to make is shorter, then hide the knot by re-screwing it back carefully. I certainly did not expect to be able to adjust it so easily - for such a low price I was about to donate it to charity - nice one Argos!
Although this rope looks as if it is made for children don't be put off by the appearance. The rope,to date, has not come away from the handles and it has not frayed despite being used both indoors and in the garden/ patio area. The handles are still fine although a little worn and perhaps not the most comfortable I've held but for ?1.99 what can one expect?
In conclusion I would say this skipping rope is a good buy unless you like to speed skip. They are lightweight yet durable, can be used inside or outdoors and are comfy to use for a few minutes. Using the rope in short bursts has made me feel better both physically and mentally and, as a bonus, I have not had to put my heating on any higher despite the recent cold snap :)
Summary: a well priced basic skipping rope
