Greenville Nc Real Estate | The Wide Arm Of The Law
We recently had the great opportunity of visiting Guatemala. What a beautiful country that is. The people are humble and generous. We were able to visit many people our daughter met while she lived there for eighteen months doing humanitarian work. The people were so gracious and quickly invited us into their extremely modest, dirt floor homes. It was a very humbling experience. I thought about those people, who live very simply and how hard it must be for them when they immigrate to the States.
If you get into a car accident in Guatemala, you simply back up and drive away. Maybe after a little yelling and name calling, you get in your car and drive away. There is no such thing as car insurance, house insurance, medical insurance; speed limits are guidelines, the people don?t make enough to worry about tax lawyers and such. Life is pretty rudimentary. You work, you eat, you have a house, you don?t have work, you don?t have food or shelter, or you make it out of what you can find at the dump. That is the extent of the law on the coast. No permits, no building codes, no real estate brokers.
Recently my son had to go to traffic court here in Greenville. I was sadden to see the court room filled with immigrants who were cited for not having auto insurance. I am sure for the most part they had never heard of such a thing. We have a lot of laws to govern our land, and for the most part that is a good thing, but the wide arm of the law must be confusing to these new comers. We have real estate lawyers, patent attorney?s, family law, tax lawyers all here in Greenville among many, many others. Tens of thousands of laws that make up are everyday existence we pretty much take for granted.
