LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A top Ford Motor Company executive made a stop in Louisville to update the public on the company's growth.
Ford's Jim Tetreault spoke at the downtown Marriott Tuesday as part of the "Business at Breakfast" guest speaker series put on by Greater Louisville Incorporated. Tetreault is the North American Vice President of Manufacturing for Ford.
Tetreault told the group of more than 100 people?about the company's recent growth, highlighting a 12 percent increase in sales from this time last year.
"That's been a consistent theme. Our month-to-month sales have been up typically every month," he said.
During his discussion, Tetreault outlined several paradigm shifts in the corporation aimed at gaining a competitive advantage over other automobile manufacturers. The adjustments included shifting some manufacturing facilities to operate 24 hours a day and making facilities capable of manufacturing next generation vehicle models using existing tooling.
According to Tetreault, such innovations will enable Ford to not only remain a viable corporation for years to come, but also continue the company's upward trend in sales allowing plants like those in Louisville to continue production.
"Both the Kentucky truck plant and the Louisville assembly plant with the Escape and the super duty pick up are at full volume right now," said Tetreault. "We can't produce much more than what we're doing but we're trying to squeeze out more."
Following his presentation, he engaged the audience in a question and answer session. When questioned about if or when Louisville would begin manufacturing a new vehicle model, Tetreault declined comment, saying he was not authorized to discuss the topic.
