Wherein We Drink Coffee & Travel Across Four States ? PA ...

And so it happens that in the last eight days, we have spent only one day at our house. The others have been spent in Indiana, PA for a wedding (will be up on the Blog soon!), a not-too-planned-in-advance Brandon business/Naomi vacation trip to Milwaukee, WI and a long-planned first-year wedding anniversary celebration week. All this gallivanting around the country means that I have?alot of laundry to catch up on, I went grocery shopping this evening and the refrigerator is no longer bare and while I am well-rested and well-fed, I definitely need to go to the gym. ALOT.

Because this blog has been sadly neglected in the last few weeks, I?ll share a little Instagram peek of our travels last week to Milwaukee. Have I ever mentioned that I love being married? For a million reasons, but one that I most definitely appreciate? Brandon drives.:DThat means I don?t have to drive much. Someone asked me how the gas prices were in Pennsylvania and I didn?t even know, because my husband usually takes care of putting gas in the car. He?s just considerate like that. And I am fully appreciative. I?ve always disliked the smell of gasoline. And getting out of the car. And so, Brandon is ahmmaazing.

We are out on the open road!

While Brandon was driving, I was talking, humming, singing, chattering, reading my camera manual (really!) and sometimes reading drool-inducing magazines. Pancakes are so good.

We stopped for coffee while on the road. Of course, we did.

Coffee mug wall art.

Steaming coffee goodness.

The story is: we stopped to get food. Bad idea. There was some kind of accident ahead and the traffic was at a complete standstill. We amused ourselves by making observations about the couple driving in front of us (engaged! super-athletic! On their way back to their corporate jobs!) and by watching this dancing musical group entertain us all on the roadside.

We stayed here. It?s nice.

While Brandon worked hard meeting with people, I worked hard (on vacation?) checking out coffee shops and working on wedding photos. Alterra Foundry was so great inside with the hanging plants throughout.

And their latte art? Fabulous.

This business trip fell on August 6th. Our first wedding anniversary. And while we already had plans to celebrate next week, we took the evening for a nice stroll along Milwaukee?s riverwalk.

Italian food is our FAVORITE. Bread and pasta was thoroughly enjoyed at Rustico. After we finally found the place?

Sometimes romance just finds us. Like a dusky walk through the streets, into a side-alley with a little tree-covered oasis filled with twinkling white Christmas lights. The photo doesn?t do it justice. A beautiful moment talking, laughing, reminiscing and enjoying our married-for-a-year state.

Chocolate chipper sundae at Perkin?s.:PA perfect dessert.

I found myself travelling a little bit north to visit some relatives. On the drive back, I was full of delicious food (doesn?t this seem to be a trend?) and couldn?t even?think of visiting a coffee shop. But I wanted to.

On our last morning in Wisconsin, we had a leisurely start. Walking by the lakefront.

Alterra by the Lake was a phenomenal coffee shop. Both because the location is historic and incredibly fascinating? and because that cheesecake swirl brownie was every bit as delicious as it looked!!

Interesting signs here in Wisconsin.

It was my first Whole Foods visit!

We acquired some real Wisconsin cheese curds for the drive home.:)

We ended the trip with much smiles and laughter and endless silly singing of hit Christian songs from the 90?s. Yeeeeeah, I think singing is what my family has always done to stay awake during late nighttime drives. I loved making new memories with Brandon and enjoying every moment that we spend together.
