BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) -The Romanian football federation has ordered a club to play six home games in an empty stadium after one of its fans rushed onto the field and punched a player from a rival club this weekend.

The federation's disciplinary committee also fined Petrolul Ploiesti 60,000 lei (?14,000, $19,000) late Wednesday.

The club said Thursday it would appeal the decision to ban spectators.

Steaua Bucharest defender George Galamaz was treated for a broken cheekbone after he was punched during Sunday's game between Petrolul Ploiesti and visiting Steaua.

Dragos Petrut Enache was jailed for 29 days pending trial. After Galamaz was hit, his teammates began beating up Enache.

The federation also rescinded the two red cards given to Steaua players Novak Martinovic and Razvan Stanca for hitting Enache.

The game was abandoned in the first half after home fans threw flares onto the field. Steaua was leading 2-0.
