Admit it. Your organization could use an extra hand or two, right? How about an extra marketer, lawyer, human resources specialist or tech guy or gal at no cost to you (aka pro bono)??
You might be surprised to learn that 70% of nonprofit board members reported securing pro bono resources in 2011. The trick is knowing where to start looking for the help you need and then managing the process to get the work you need done. That?s where Powered by Pro Bono comes in. This new book, authored by the Taproot Foundation, is chock full of tips, guidance, worksheets, and, step-by-step directions on how secure and manage these resources to get the results you?re looking for.
If you?re not sure if pro bono resources are what you need, let us give a couple of examples:
- Family Connections worked with a team of Wells Fargo employees who created communication strategies; a four-panel brochure; and a multi-use, one-page factsheet template that allows Family Connections to clearly tell funders, volunteers, and nonprofit partners how they develop strong, healthy community in San Francisco.
- Chicago Public Schools worked directly with Boston Consulting Group to formulate a new strategy for a public high school improvement that resulted in the launch of a cutting-edge performance ?scorecard? for each school and a new system for teaching English, math, and science aligned to state standards and incorporating teacher development.
If either of these projects are the types of things you?d like to be able to undertake, know that there are professionals out there waiting to help you make them happen. But perhaps you already know that?
If you have a pro bono story to tell, we?d like to hear it. We have 5 copies of Powered by Pro Bono to give away. For a chance to win, tell your Pro Bono story in the comments below.
