I spent most of my night and early morning hours perusing the internet, ?spying? on local artists and entertainers, and reflecting on recent shows that I?ve attended.? I hear a lot of artist say that they want to bring good entertainment back, yet I?m trying to understand why my ears and aura are abused by so much trash when I go to their shows.
They tell me that they want to provide conscious entertainment, but when I go to their shows and events, they provide the opposite. How are they conscious artists, when the words out of their mouths are ignorant and profane or they allow the ignorant and profane to grace their stages? They have a platform to add value to lives, dispel negative images and provide an alternative to what?s currently main stream. Yet, they succumb to the pressure of Mr. $$ and an unappreciative audience.
?
Being conscious does not necessarily mean being revolutionary, but you have to be true to who you are.
We say that we want better, yet we continue to dumb ourselves down and feed our minds and souls trash. Remember, you are what you eat?you are what you speak. -Tonya B.
**Next week, I?m launching two new segments ? Open Mic Mondays? and Freelance First Amendment. I?ve turned my guest blogger ?spot? into Open Mic Mondays. It was specifically created for guest blogger submissions of all kinds, general topics, music, photography, arts, entertainment, poetry, community/socially conscious efforts, etc.? Freelance First Amendment is for any of my fellow freelancers to speak of their experiences ? good or bad, funny or serious.? If you are interested, send and email to info[@]justtonyab.com.
